Beginning/Beginning-Intermediate Level (1 ½ hour class)
Class Schedule Wednesdays 6:45-8:15 pm (call for start date)
Cost $114 for 8-week series (1½ hr classes) $18 drop-in per class
About the Class
Appropriate for beginning or beginning intermediate students, the class will focus on building a foundation for belly dance through the basics: proper dance posture, isolations, drills, combinations, strengthening exercises, and stretches. We will focus on and drill two separate isolations each week. Emphasis will be on learning proper technique and form.
Finger cymbals will be used incorporating them with movement and basic Middle Eastern rhythms will be introduced. The class will help build a foundation of techniques, moves, muscle memory, and confidence so that you can successfully move up to the next level of the dance.
About the Instructor
Katherine has been dancing since childhood beginning in the living room with her Mom and then advancing on to Country, Swing, Contra, Waltz, Cape Breton Step, Aerobic, and Belly Dance. After seeing Gypsy Caravan perform, she was immediately captured by the earthy movements, the music, and the ethnic costuming of Tribal belly dance and she embarked on her belly dance journey. She is a founding member of Wild Serenity Dance Tribe.
